Moto Expo to bring Jason Crump public flat track event to the heart of Melbourne

Moto Expo, the bi-annual mecca of all things motorcycles returns to Melbourne Showgrounds on 23-25 November 2018 with a unique new feature event.

Presented by Shannons Insurance and Troy Bayliss Events, Moto Expo is giving licenced motorcycle riders the opportunity to participate in Crumpy’s City Slide, a signature flat track event of three-time Speedway World Champion Jason Crump.

Crumpy’s City Slide is presented by Royal Enfield and will be held on the Melbourne Showgrounds sacred Main Arena on Saturday 24 November.

While motorcycle riders will have a rare opportunity to put their machines to the test on a purpose- built gravel flat track in the heart of the city, the event is not a race, it is a social activity for bikes of all shapes and is limited to just 200 participants.

Crumpy’s City Slide will get underway on the Main Arena at 4.00pm on Saturday 24 November. The on-track event will run until 8:00pm and while the Moto Expo exhibition areas will close at 6.00pm, a dedicated City Slide entertainment zone will open to host a night of music, food and entertainment and include a fully licenced bar until 9:00pm

Jason Crump encouraged riders to get their entries in early to avoid missing out.

“Troy Bayliss Events are at the forefront of flat track events in Australia,” Crump said. “I have competed in the Classics and Scrambles, they are exciting for the riders and spectators. So, when Troy Bayliss Events asked if I was keen for a signature event as part of Moto Expo I knew City Slide was the answer.

“City Slide brings public participation to flat track. I am going to bring my slider and I know some of my mates are going to come and take part. For motorcycle riders, this is an event not to be missed it will be fun to be a part of it.

“The music, the food and the bikes will create an awesome atmosphere so even if you are not riding I encourage you to come along and enjoy the night,” Crump added.

Everyone who enters to ride or attends the City Slide Hall to enjoy the entertainment after 6.00pm will go in the draw to win a brand-new Royal Enfield 350 Classic (Note: the winner will be announced at 8:00 pm and must be present to collect prize).

Riders who enter Crumpy’s City Slide will receive an event T-Shirt as well as an entry into Moto Expo and have the option to display their bikes for the three days of Moto Expo.

Event Organiser Troy Bayliss said he was excited to be bringing this style of event to the heart of Melbourne.

“At Troy Bayliss Events we are always looking for fresh features,” Bayliss explained. “A few years ago fast 50’s and choppers were all the rage, recently the cafe and bobber scene has been popular. We know first-hand that flat track is popular and now people are mixing flat track with all styles of bikes.

“We flagged the idea with some of our exhibitors and the response has been incredible. Some manufacturers are bringing out bikes just for this event; others are dusting of bikes from the back of warehouses, mix that with some crazy general public bikes and it is going to be a great spectacle.

“I haven’t decided what I will ride yet, but I will definitely find something fitting,” Bayliss continued.

“I am also really looking forward to the entertainment on offer in the City Slide Hall. We will host our exhibitors’ function in the same venue on the night, it’s the perfect opportunity for everyone to get together and have some fun.

The event is expected to attract bikes of all shapes and sizes, new and old including old flat trackers, bobbers, postie bikes, monkeys, classics and vintage bikes.

Entry to watch Crumpy’s City Slide from the grandstands is included part of general entry ticket to Moto Expo. Entry to the City Slide Hall is $5 and includes an entry into the draw to win the Royal Enfield 350 Classic.
