Morbidelli waits: “The injury is improving” | MOTOGP | SPORT

The Italian is in Germany for Round 9, but will have to undergo last minute fitness tests to see if he's able to ride

Franco Morbidelli will be at the Pramac Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland this weekend after missing Assen’s race with a left-hand injury.

Morbidelli went down heavily in FP4 and suffered a fracture in his third metacarpal, with the Italian now having to go through a series of fitness tests on Thursday before being allowed to head on out track at the Sachsenring.

“The injury is improving,” commented the reigning Moto2 World Champion. “I will be in Germany, I will do the tests before the GP and the doctors will decide if I will be able to get on track.”

The Sachsenring is a track Morbidelli has had success on in the past, including a victory last season, so he’ll be even more determined to return to action and continue his positive rookie season on the Honda. “Last year I won for the sixth time on that track and became the leader in the standings, so I have good memories.”
