MELBOURNE ELECTRIC VEHICLE EXPO 2018 | EVENTS

Eva Hakansson, the world’s fastest woman on a motorcycle, will headline the Melbourne Electric Vehicle Expo to be held on February 18, 2018.

Hakansson, who set an official world record of 400.2km/h in Utah in August, 2016, will give a presentation about KillaJoule, her record-breaking electric motorcycle.

She will be among a number of experts giving talks about electric vehicles at the Expo, the largest electric vehicle event in Australia.

The Melbourne Electric Vehicle Expo, at the Melbourne International Karting Complex in Port Melbourne, will include displays of the latest electric vehicles, including cars, bikes and motorcycles – both commercial and privately built.

People will be able to test ride e-bikes, watch the colourful Show ‘N Shine competition, listen to talks and enjoy entertainment in a family atmosphere.

The Melbourne Electric Vehicle Expo is organised by the not-for-profit Alternative Technology Association (ATA). The RACV is the principal sponsor.

Clint Steele, ATA spokesman, said electric vehicles were on the rise around the world with countries like the UK, France and India committing to phase out petrol cars for electric.

“Electric vehicles are clean, green and the way of the future,” Mr Steele said. “People are starting to take them up around the world in large numbers.

“The Melbourne Electric Vehicle Expo will be a great opportunity for people to see and even test ride a range of EVs. There’ll be something for everyone, including food and entertainment, and the event is free.”
