Australia’s MX2 rider Hunter Lawrence has won the opening round of the 2018 Italian International Motocross Championship as part of his pre-season preparations for the FIM Motocross World Championship
He will be riding for the Team Honda 114 Motorsports squad in the 2018 MXGP series, before starting his newly inked three-year deal to race in America with the competitive Geico Honda Team in 2019. The young Aussie found himself without a ride at the end of the 2017 MXGP season after the factory Suzuki outfit withdrew from the series altogether.
“It’s cool to start the season off with a win,” Lawrence said. “We got to play around with some things and try some new stuff.”
The opening round of the MXGP series will kick off with the Patagonia Grand Prix in Argentina on 4 March.
