Indian reveals 2018 model changes | NEWS

Indian has released its full 2018 model range. The biggest news is the addition of the Scout Bobber, which we’ve already shown you, but there are two other new models, the Roadmaster Elite and Springfield Dark Horse.

The former sits at the top of the Indian tree. Limited to 300 bikes, it’s a custom-made tourer sold only in a blue-and-black paint scheme with real 23-karat gold leaf used for the logo on its fuel tank. Yes, really. Subtle it’s not. But anyone who doesn’t see it is sure to hear it because there’s also a 300-watt stereo system as standard.

Those not wanting to attract as much attention might prefer the Springfield Dark Horse. It’s a blacked-out bagger with a removable Perspex screen to provide some touring ability. Finished in a combination of matte and gloss blacks, with no chrome in sight, it also loses the traditional flowing front fender in favour of a more conventional mudguard, sitting over a new 19-inch front wheel.

Other updates to the range include the addition of new cartridge forks on the Scout, which also finally gets a pillion seat as standard (differentiating it further from the Bobber). The Chief Classic gets a more retro look with wire wheels instead of alloys, while the Chieftain gets the same 19-inch front wheel and conventional mudguard as the Springfield Dark Horse.

The old-style Chieftain with the traditional front fender is still available, just renamed the Chieftain Classic.
