Going to school on an electric Bimota | NEWS

While this isn’t an official project, it’s rare to see an unofficial work that looks as convincing as this.

This electric Bimota concept, dubbed the EB1, is the work of four students at the International School of Design in Valenciennes, France. They’ve not only styled the bike but created a photo-realistic CGI animation of it.

Maxime LeFebvre, Thomas Mayer, Florian Poulenard and Antoine LeSacq did the design work, while modellers Maxence Texier, Matthieu Piron and Tanguy Koutouan created the images and video.

The bike features key Bimota cues, not least the Tesi-style hub-centre steering, and adds a futuristic spin with an electric powertrain and semi-transparent plastic bodywork.

The electric motor and battery packs are realistically sized, and the steel and aluminium chassis parts are all believably designed. Only the unusual positioning of the electric motor, right at the front of the chassis, requiring a massively long drive chain to the rear wheel, looks like an awkward compromise. But it’s only a compromise if it turns into a reality – and it won’t.
