At Misano, Romano Fenati (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers) was shown the Black Flag and disqualified from the Moto2 race for irresponsible riding after an incident between the Italian and compatriot Stefano Manzi (Forward Racing Team). The FIM MotoGP Stewards decided to suspend Fenati from the next two Grands Prix following the offence, deemed serious. The penalty applies to the rider only, not the team – leaving the door open for a replacement to race.
Manzi also recieved a penalty of six grid positions at his next race, and also for irresponsible riding, but that was for a different and earlier incident between the two at Turn 4.
After the high-profile incident and Fenati’s Black Flag, the premier class podium finishers were also asked for their thoughts on it in the MotoGP Press Conference – and Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda Castrol) pulled no punches…
