Electric T-REX | NEWS

Campagna Motors has been turning out crazy bike-powered three-wheelers since the early 1990s, with the T-REX model leading the way.

Now it’s planning to give the machine a more 21st-century approach by adding an electric-powered version made with the help of Zero Motorcycles.

While various bike engines have appeared in the T-REX – the Suzuki GSX-R1100, Kawasaki ZZR1100 and ZX-12R, and most recently BMW K1600GT – there has never been an electric model before. That’s going to change when the prototype for the T-REX Electric makes its debut at the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show on 20 April this year.

Zero Motorcycles will supply the motors and batteries that will power the new vehicle.

We know that Zero is also providing motors for the upcoming range of high-performance Curtiss motorcycles, with power levels as high as 130kW mooted, and presumably the relatively heavy T-REX will need a similarly potent version of the drivetrain.

The initial prototype will be followed by a second, more refined one later in the year, but at the moment there’s no timescale mentioned for the final production version’s launch.
