It wasn’t long ago that 112kW was more power than even the best superbikes could offer.
Today it’s available in an adventure bike and – as Ducati’s new Multistrada 1200 Enduro Pro shows – even one with some serious off-road intentions.
While only a parts-bin raiding exercise, the new ‘Pro’ version ups its off-road game with the addition of Pirelli Scorpion Rally rubber, replacing the stock Scorpion Trail IIs of the normal Enduro. It also gets its own paintwork, with sand-coloured bodywork and a matte finish, plus Touratech-developed crash bars sprouting LED spotlights. A Termignoni exhaust comes as standard, too, along with a lower screen – said to be better for off-road riding, as it’s easier to see over when standing on the pegs.
Note that much of this kit is already available in Ducati’s existing ‘Enduro’ and ‘Sport’ options packages.
While few owners are really likely to take these bikes into the wilderness – as depicted on Ducati’s press shots – the bike’s capability isn’t to be doubted.
Like the normal Enduro, the Pro version gets the full suite of Ducati electronics. Traction control, riding modes, wheelie control, cornering ABS, cornering headlights, cruise control and even a Bluetooth multimedia infotainment system are standard.
Weight is up a fraction. Ready to ride, with a full tank, the Pro comes in at 261kg compared to 254kg for the normal Enduro. You can bet that most will be bulked up further with the optional Touratech aluminium side cases, too.
