BMW ISSUES RECALL OF R 1200 GS DUE TO FORK TUBE DEFECT | NEWS

Product Safety Australia has announced a recall of BMW’s R 1200 GS and R 1200 GSA for a defect related to the fork tubes on 2013 – 2017 Sold models.

Release by Product Safety Australia

What are the defects?

The fixed fork tube can suffer preliminary damage when unusual incidents with momentary high stress occur.

What are the hazards?

Prolonged usage with high stress may cause the pressed in top seal plug in the fixed fork tube to loosen, leading to oil leaks and increasingly imprecise drivability.

If this is not noticed or ignored and further high stress incidents occur, the plug may become completely loose, posing a hazard to the rider and other road users.
