Bayliss Becomes ASBK Ambassador | NEWS

Three-time World Champion Troy Bayliss has become the fourth and final Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) Ambassador for 2016.

Bayliss, who is widely recognised as a legend of the sport, has confirmed his dedication to the ASBK Championship by taking on the role of ambassador, bringing his experience and world class knowledge to the series for 2016.

Bayliss shared his excitement in joining the three other ambassadors for this year’s talent-packed ASBK Championship.

“It feels pretty special to be one of the ASBK Ambassadors. I started racing here in Australia in the early nineties doing the Shell Oil Series, since then, to come back and be involved in the championship and see it so strong again with all the manufactures on board, it’s really nice,” he said.

“I hope being involved as an ASBK ambassador, doing pillion rides and supporting the championship during the year, with my name associated with the series, that it will help bring competitors and people to the tracks and to the championship.

“The whole idea was to be involved with the ASBK team like we have been with the DesmoSport Ducati squad, and to make the championship strong again like it used to be – plus continue to strengthen the championship even further in to the future.

“I just really want to see our championship here in Australia as strong as it possibly can be, and to help make that a strong platform for our young guys coming through.

“I want to work hard to help everybody concerned and I just want to see our championship go from strength by strength.”

Bayliss will be involved in the ASBK Pillion Program aboard his Ducati 1299 S machine throughout the year, as well as bring a wealth of knowledge to the ASBK table, to help promote the championship throughout 2016.

Round 2 ASBK is at Wakefield Park Raceway, March 25 – 27
