Australia’s biggest MT meeting | EVENTS | NEWS

Australia’s first meeting for Yamaha’s MT model owners took place at an iconic cafe on a well known motorcycle-friendly road in NSW on 26 August 2018.

Over 100 riders met at the Grey Gum Cafe on the Putty Road that connects Sydney to the Hunter Valley region to celebrate the popular Monster Torque range of models – from the original MT-01 right up to the latest Tracer sports tourers.

The event is the brainchild of 31-year-old diesel mechanic Leon Cutts from Singleton, NSW. “I know how popular the bikes are and realised that no-one had organised an event for the many passionate owners,” explains Leon, who is also the administrator of the MT-10 worldwide Facebook group.

“I owned an R1 that I turned into a streetfighter then when the MT-10 came out I had to have one. I’m on my second now… and I love them,” continues the event organiser.

Over 200 riders registered interest in the event, but wet conditions put many off showing up on the day. “I was still over the moon with the turnout. We had a great band and Yamaha dealer Bikebiz showed up with a display of models,” says Cutts.

Now Cutts is busy planning next year’s bigger and better event – possibly on the Gold Coast in Queensland where the weather is said to be beautiful one day… and perfect the next.
