Australian MotoGP countdown is on | MOTOGP | SPORT

With seven races until MotoGP riders take to the track at the Island, the 2018 mid-season is proving to be a brilliant showcase of jaw-droppingly close racing.

There is just 100 days to go until the Michelin Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2018 descends on Phillip Island for the ultimate spectacle of world-class racing on two wheels, from the 26 – 28 October.

Spectacular view lines, rapid racing and a bumper line-up of on-track competition promises fans a thrilling experience and will no doubt have them on the edge of their seat in anticipation.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation General Manager of Motorsport, Entertainment and Industry, Craig Fletcher, is looking forward to another fantastic weekend at the picturesque Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

“We expect to see thousands of fans flock from all over the world to see the top riders perform as they pursue the chequered flag at this year’s Michelin Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2018,” Fletcher said.

“It will also be the last chance for Aussie fans to see MotoGP legend Dani Pedrosa before he retires at the end of the year, as well as Jorge Lorenzo’s last race on a Ducati before he turns to Honda in 2019.”

Aussie MotoGP rider Jack Miller, who is currently sitting tenth in the world championship standings, says he feels strong on the Ducati and is looking forward to the rest of the season.

“I feel there are some tracks coming up in the second half of the season that I think I can fight for the podium, for sure,” Miller said.

When looking ahead, Miller said he cannot wait to race in front of the Australian fans at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

“It’s a track that really works well with my style and how I ride. So, I’m just really looking forward to getting there. It’s a place I love a lot and the fans are incredible.”
