Speedway Aussie talent shines | SPORT

It’s all good news for Australia’s Under 21 speedway riders on both individual and team fronts.

The Individual Junior World Championship will be decided over three meetings starting on 23 July and three Aussies will be in the final line-up.

Brady Kurtz was second in the Qualifying meeting at Pardubice, Czech Republic and Jack Holder won a four-rider run-off to claim top spot in the meeting at Terenzano, Italy.

Max Fricke was only one point behind Holder but with only the top four from each of the qualifiers guaranteed a berth in the final series Fricke had to wait for the good news from the FIM allocating him one of three permanent wildcards berths.

Those three riders were then joined by Josh Pickering as Australia won their semi-final of the World Junior Team Championship at Pocking, Germany last weekend.

With both Kurtz and Fricke unbeaten Australia finished on 47 points, seven ahead of Great Britain, to win through to the final in Poland in September.
