MotoGP 2016 – Whats on at Phillip Island this weekend? Regardless of what you’re doing, or where you’re doing it, when the clock strikes 4pm on Sunday, 23 October, get to the fence, or a television, or a computer and settle in for 27 laps of the best motorcycle racing on earth at the world’s most exciting and picturesque racetrack!

Tickets

Even a general admission ticket will let you wander in and out of the garages of the fastest racers in Oz. The Australian Superbike and Supersport racers will be vying for the Phillip Island Championship while being the supporting act to the international grand prix classes.

1000km/h

The jets are back! No more of the lovely, little and very skillful aerobatic displays of the RAAF roulettes, this year two F/A-18A Classic Hornets will have race-goers’ eyes skyward as they hit speeds of 1000km/h at altitudes of just 150m! Phwoar!

Polish and Park

It’s the event’s best parking spot! Wash and polish your bike, fill in the entry form on the Aussie event’s website to enter it in the Show ’n’ Shine, and you’ve just got yourself some free valet parking! Okay, that’s not what it’s for, but it’s definitely worth a squiz and the little time it takes to cast your vote for your favourite. The winner from each category gets a lap of the circuit!

Close to the Action

It doesn’t matter where you are around the circuit, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to watch all the action from the whopping great cinema-sized super screens – they’re everywhere!

Autographs ?

Whether you want to profess you undying love for a rider, or just want a signed stubby holder for your man cave, with bit of patience and queueing you’ll probably get it! To access the MotoGP boys, you’ll need to go to the Spokes stage at 9am on Friday or Saturday and queue up for a ticket in the hope of being issued with a priority wristband. Remember, early birds catch the worms. Take your AMCN autograph poster with ya.

Tackers race

Ten lucky little tackers aged between six and 10-years old will race CRF50Fs down the main straight of the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit just two days before the likes of Márquez and Miller will line up on the same hallowed ground! The kids bikes will then be made available for all young ’uns to take for a spin on the purpose-built track located at the Honda tent during the race weekend.

Fan Forums

As well as the autograph signing, the Spokes stage will also play host to insightful interviews with the who’s who of the grand prix paddock. As AMCN went to print the schedule hadn’t quite been finalised, but pop up to the stage early and find out who’ll be featured and who you want to hear.

Expo

The good thing about Australia hosting its round of the championship in the latter half of the year means the GP Expo is often the stage many manufacturers use to debut never-before-seen models. You can grab a handful of stickers, try on those new boots you’ve been thinking about, chew Editor Dobie’s ear off about doing the points on your old bike, or just use it to escape the blazing sun or the bucketing rain – it could be either.

$90

If you wake up on Sunday morning and change your mind about not going, get on your bike and get to the track. It’ll only set you back 90 bucks to be the person at the fence, watching the action as it happens.
