AGV Veloce S

Link International, the Australian distributor for the Italian AGV brand in Australia, has sent me the new AGV Veloce S helmet in the Rossi Ranch colour scheme.

The Veloce S is AGV’s premium lid from its sport range, sitting above the K5 and K3. It’s designed primarily for street use (AGV offers a racing range, too)  but will easily crossover for track use. I plan to give the helmet a run in both scenarios.

A look back through the AMCN archives, will reveal that I have not tested an AGV helmet previously. I owned a K3 AGV many years ago and found it uncomfortable when worn for long periods of time. Just like helmets, heads come in many shapes and sizes, and my head didn’t gel with the AGV. I’m now keen to give the Veloce S a run to see what has changed over the years.

The shell construction of the Veloce S is a mix of carbon, aramid and fibreglass. The helmet comes in sizes ranging from small to XL, and the five sizes are made up of four shell sizes.

The visor comes Pinlock ready with a Pinlock insert included with the helmet. AGV also sent me a cool-looking iridium visor (pictured) to replace the standard clear visor.

Internally, the helmet has the emergency cheek-pad removal system, and a soft water-resistant neck roll to reduce  the wind noise and keep out the water. There’s also plenty of ventilation points, with deep airflow channels built into the EPS foam lining to help keep your head cool.

The next thing for me to do with the AGV Veloce S helmet is to get it onto my head and start wearing it. Look for my full product evaluation in an upcoming issue of AMCN.
