Draggin Jeans – Letter of the issue | COLUMNS | GASSIT GARAGE

Letter of the issue (Vol 67 No 09)

I have been buying your mag for the last 20 years and have really enjoyed the good spread of bike info, latest news, future bikes, retro stories, readers’ stories, Fred Gassitt…

A few years ago I bought a 1972 Suzuki water bottle, a bike I was always keen on since I saw one cruising around our home town when I was a 13-year-old.  After buying the bike, which was in need of some work and tidy up, I found the wonderful world of eBay. First purchase was a parts book. Next, with a very understanding wife, I proceeded to surf the internet and was amazed what was out there. With a careful study of part numbers and a lot of ‘BUY NOW’ I received regular parcels in the mail. Trips to the chrome platers also became a regular thing. I am now the proud owner of a mint ‘Water Bus’ as we refer to them here in NZ.

This year I received a special gift from my dear wife and daughter. A birthday card was given to me which my daughter had very creatively made, and of course it took my eye straight away. A water bus! Australian Motorcycle news! After a scan of it, I realised I was being gifted a 12 months’ subscription to this great mag. I’m a lucky bugger – awesome gift, awesome family. I also recently bought a 2014 Triumph tiger 800XC so I can do more gravel roads in NZ after having done many of the nice tarmac rides on my trusty Suzuki GS1100G 1982, let the good times roll. Here is a photo of my 750j and my birthday card.  Cheers for a great mag, looking forward to seeing the mail man once again.
