Street-style bike to join planned SUV750 model
Moto Parilla’s plans to bring a new range of 750cc parallel-twin bikes to production are still largely secret, but these new patent drawings show the latest development from within the Italian-owned company.
Last year we revealed how Parilla was the latest home for the SUV750, a bike that started life back in 2012 as the Brutus 750 concept. It reappeared at shows in 2013 under the Caterham name, but again didn’t reach production. Now that bike, designed by Alessandro Tartarini, is the basis of the Moto Parilla plans.
More recently, we revealed design drawings for a retro-style scrambler using the same engine and chassis as the SUV750, and now the company has registered patents on a third set of drawings which show a quite different style of bike.
The new design appears to be a road-oriented machine rather than having the off-road looks of the previous two models. As with the SUV750, though, the front tyre is oversized and far wider than is conventional.
It’s clear the engine is still the same 750cc Dinli unit allied to the same CVT gearbox. A simple tubular frame ties the whole lot together, along with a box-section swingarm and upside-down fork.
Moto Parilla’s plans involve outsourcing production, probably to factories in China, rather than attempting to create a factory of its own.
Recently, the company has removed pictures of the original Brutus-based SUV750 design from its website, replacing them with an ‘under construction’ page and a form to request email updates on the project. When it reappears, there’s a pretty strong chance the bike will have been transformed to look like the pictures you see here.
